PERMISSIONS

P E R M I S S I O N S O P T-O U T

CONTENT WARNINGS
Russian Doll is a dark psychological comedy, but deals heavily with themes of death, trauma, and mental illness. Not only do Alan and Nadia die repeatedly throughout the show in various, often gruesome ways, but at the root of this situation lie their respective demons, which in Alan's case include: death; mental illness; alcoholism; eating disorders; suicide, and potentially more. These subjects may or may not come up when threading with him, but please proceed with necessary caution. ©

I will content warn as necessary if/when any of the above sensitive subjects might come up, although much of it is very circumstantial and very likely won't come up in casual conversation, if at all. If you would prefer to opt-out of CR with him altogether or for any other reason you can let me know here, and/or simply let me know what subjects in particular to avoid while tagging you if you still prefer not to opt-out entirely. Comments are screened, so no worries.

POWER PERMISSIONS / OPT-IN

Alan's power of Temporal Glitching (read more about it here) works in a lot of different ways with a lot of different side effects, both on himself and people around him. While certain side effects primarily only affect NPCs by default, they can sometimes affect fellow imPorts too on an opt-in basis. This will most likely still have to be plotted individually each time, but if you're at all interested in your character ever being affected in the following ways please opt-in below so I know to check in with you at the time! And again, please refer to the linked info page for his full power write-up for more context if necessary.
  • Whenever Alan "dies"/resets in-game, he'll be returned to his home bathroom, 36 minutes in the past. This will operate by normal time travel logic for the environment and for NPCs, but imPorts will generally be immune, meaning they will not forget any interactions they may have had with Alan in that span of time unless the player wants them to, and it will instead just cause weird jarring glitch in the matrix-style incongruities and game canon "continuity errors." If other characters happen to die with him at the time, players can also opt-in to having them reset 36 minutes in the past, in their own bathrooms, but they will be affected by the same conditions/limitations, and also by the following consequence: After each loop Alan will forget something. Most commonly it will be something from the current/previous day, possibly minor (such as what he had for breakfast that morning), or something extremely significant about himself or his life (such as why he and his ex-girlfriend broke up). In some cases he will be able to tell that he's forgotten something, and in others he might not even notice.
  • If his ability starts really breaking and triggering more side effects, other imPorts may have the potential to be affected by his power the way normally only NPCs are (forgetting interactions that occurred within the 36 minute reset period, or even forgetting how they know him altogether), or sleeping may begin to glitch/roll back/affect his CR in other ways, erasing or rewriting moments, events, or conversations, but not the entire relationship.

For imPorts who can read minds or sense death or if/how a character has died, they will in most cases not be able to get a clear or linear reading from Alan, and instead see a jumbled amalgamation of all the different timelines and/or deaths he's experienced. Feel free to opt-in for this (or come at me with information about your character's powers / request further information from me) and we can discuss how that could play out!

Anyone is welcome to just freeform their reply if that works better, but here's a handy form for those who might prefer to use one:

No need for specifics right now, I'll always ask first! But if you want to register potential/future interest now go ahead, and/or if you even have any particular ideas or stipulations or preferences or other quirky ways for Alan's power to interact with your character, feel free to mention them.
